Snug Harbor Surf Park

Newport Beach, CA

7-Acres

The Snug Harbor Surf Park project in Newport Beach, CA, will be a transformative redevelopment of a 15.38-acre portion of the Newport Beach Golf Course, centered around a state-of-the-art 7-acre surf lagoon. The park will feature a three-story clubhouse with a surf academy, fitness and yoga centers, retail and dining options, and a two-story athlete accommodation building with 20 units. Amenities include three warming pools, a spa, viewing platforms, cabanas, and solar-powered infrastructure to support sustainability. The project also includes ample parking, surfboard storage, and maintenance facilities. By offering a world-class surf experience in a controlled environment, the park will provide recreational, educational, and economic benefits to the community, promoting active lifestyles, tourism, and local job creation.
The landscape design for Snug Harbor Surf Park embraces a drought-tolerant plant palette that thrives in the region’s arid climate while conjuring the lush, sun-drenched ambiance of a coastal paradise. At the heart of the project, the surf lagoon, clubhouse and associated amenity terraces will be surrounded by clusters of palms intended to provide vertical drama and iconic silhouettes against the coastal sky. The amenity terraces will be enhanced with denser, lush foliage to evoke a lush environment while adhering to water efficient landscaping and irrigation principles. Drifts of succulents, agaves, ornamental grasses, shrubs and groundcovers interspersed with flowering accents will provide both texture and movement.
