Evermont Mixed-Use
Los Angeles, California
Evermont is the winner of the 2021 and 2024 PCBC Best on the Boards Affordable Housing Community Gold Nugget Award, a mixed-use development at the NE corner of Vermont and Manchester providing 180 units of affordable housing for seniors, families, youth, grocery and retail, a SEED school, a transit plaza, and a Metro training facility. The primary plaza design was inspired by the architectural geode-like facade and provides a larger scale area for entertainment, dining and opportunities for the community to gather and connect. Smaller niche seating areas are located throughout allowing for small group gathering. A meandering, geometric ribbon of landscape serves as the focal point within the plaza and provides shaded, quiet seating opportunities with benches located along the edges. From the Residential and Metro plaza, bridges traversing the landscape connect to the retail/dining plaza. The Residential component incorporates multiple courtyards intended to serve the Affordable Housing Residents. These active and passive spaces include play areas for small children, barbeque areas, lounge seating areas, dining tables and plaza games such as bocce. The Senior Affordable residents will enjoy a primary courtyard with a view of the Transit Plaza and ‘ribbon of landscape’ below.
